4 Reasons Why Gymnastic Rings Training is Effective

Super Strength Builder

Exercising with gymnastic rings forces you to use more of your stabilising muscles that wouldn’t normally be used with conventional exercise.

For example - if you are doing a pushup on a pair of low rings, you will naturally have to recruit more of your shoulder and arm stabilising muscles to control the unstable nature of of the rings, pushing you to a higher level of intensity. Hello strength gains!

Also, because of the unstable nature of the rings, you are always working your core to keep your body stable. Talk about bang for buck!

Gymnastic strength skills can look easy, but the truth is they require admirable levels of strength. You can’t develop this type of strength by doing repetitive sets using barbells and dumbbells, because the stabilising muscles and nervous system stimulus is not the same as using the rings.

Building Strong Joints

Rings provide more room for joint movement than any other equipment.

For example, stationary bars have a certain amount of restriction in joint movements – where as the rings encourage you to use full range of motion for your joints.

Since the rings move freely, your muscles are engaged properly to strengthen and stabilise the joints with each rep. As a result your joints (wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck) become healthier and at less risk of injury.

Versatile

The great thing about the rings is that you can change your hand position, which will change which muscles are being targeted while performing the movement. For example, some people with existing shoulder injuries may have pain while doing pullup work on a bar. Being able to rotate the rings while performing a pullup can prevent shoulder pain, which leads to a more effective workout.

There’s many options for where you can hang your rings from - anything that is horizontal and solid will work!

You could head down to the park and find a tree, or find a bar to hang them from at a playground. Being lightweight, they're also great for travel to keep up your training routine while you’re away.

Playful And Fun

We think it’s almost impossible to silence your inner-child when you see a pair of rings hanging there just waiting for you to have a play. They keep training fun and motivating.
